Posey is a very beautiful deep red, almost mahogany, smooth hair. Her coat is soft and shiny, prettiest red I have seen. She has the long, lean, classic shape you immediately recognize as a dachshund. She came from a kill shelter, dumped with several others by a breeder who had "too many dogs". She has NO issues or bad habits at all, and with her good looks and fine, long lines, it is hard to believe she was dumped. However, she's happy and healthy now, spayed, up to date on all vaccinations, on flea/tick and heartworm preventative, and bouncing around collecting toys as only a dog who never had any and just discovered them recently, can. Posey is very affectionate, completely non-aggressive, and just a joy to have with you. She's energetic, very happily plays with her toys, loves to go for walks (needs work on pulling when on leash), interested in everything and, though a bit hesitant with strangers, soon makes friends with anyone who is kind to her.When she came to us, she was terrified, tail tucked and so shy she cringed, but that lasted all of a day; as soon as she realized she was safe and loved, her natural sweet, trusting, nature came through. She gets on well with our 6 other dachsies, is not alpha or confrontational (except when she really wants that toy, then she's a stealth grabber), is potty and crate trained, and is just a sweet, easy going, loving little dachsie. Posey is now ready for a loving home where she will be well cared for and appreciated for her sweet personality. She really has no issues, would be fine as an only dog with people who would not leave her alone all day, or with another young dog as a friend.
