Dixie Dachshund Rescue

Wow, what a ride it has been so far!  From very rough beginnings, I’m now ready to start a life of love and fun!  I was in really bad shape from heartworms, lack of weight, and lack of good nutrition (plus a bit of a respiratory problem).  Thanks to the good people at Elmore Humane Society, they sent me to Dixie Dachshund Rescue to be fostered and placed.  I am now over my heartworms, eating well and healthy, current on vaccinations, neutered and on heartworm prevention so I NEVER get heartworms again!

I’m a BEAUTIFUL boy – black and tan dapple – and small.  I am told all the time how pretty I am!  I am also told all the time how very, very, VERY sweet I am!!!  I LOVE LOVE LOVE to cuddle!!!!  But – if you make me sleep in my own bed – I will – I’m OK with that; but I REALLY prefer to sleep with you!  I would really love my own “parents”.

I’m used to a family that works, because my foster parents work.  I LOVE TO EAT and I will play with toys.  I would be fine as an only dog – but would LOVE having a playmate – but they need to me by size (or only a little bit bigger).  I’m even OK with cats (that’s different – a doxie OK with cats!).  I am also mostly housetrained (you know how we doxies are – never completely house trained!).  I’m used to pottying on a leash – but only with harness and leash.  I’m a small boy and I can run quick!  I am crate trained and I actually like going in my crate.  It’s my “private time”. 

I cannot be adopted to a family with children as I am very small – and young children are not good for me.  But otherwise, I am perfect!  If you decide you would like to have me as your new baby, please email karenb@kw.com.  I will be waiting!
