I’ve been trying to figure out why I was named Lola. Hmmmmmmmm, did you know there is a song with my name! Lola la-la-la-la Lola la-la-la-la Lola! Well, this song is about a man who dresses like a woman. I’m here to tell ya honey, I am girlie-girl through and through. Lola means “sorrows” in Spanish, but the only part of me that has sorrow, and lots of it, is the fact that I was dumped at a place where they kill animals all the time, then ended up in a home that did not take good care of me, and I still don’t have the home of my dreams. I found out that Lola is short for “Delores”. That’s way too many syllables and reminds me of my friend’s grandma. I’m only 5, after all! Then it dawned on me. I figured out that Lola is fun for my mommy to say and sounds like a beautiful song when she calls me: Loooooooooooooooooooooo~laaaaaaaa! Beautiful, just like me! And music to my ears when I hear it. I know it means one of many greats things, such as time for a treat, a chewie, a meal, or snuggle time. Wheeee!
I have one other word that describes me to a “T”: perfect. I know, hard to imagine, but wait until you read my resume! I’m perfectly healthy, fully vetted, and on monthly heartworm prevention. I have the best manners and am extremely well-behaved. Not only do I sit well for pictures, but I also sit still at the vet, I sit still for baths, sit beautifully in my car seat, like a queen purveying her area. I know you are getting this visual. *Smile*
I play well with everyone. No chance for time-outs! I love cats, but they run away from me. I guess they don’t understand I just want to play. So, maybe another doggie playmate would be a much better idea, and one who lets me decide on the rules. Someone has to be boss, right?
I love, love, LOVE to snuggle, hence my nickname Snuggle Bug. I mean, who doesn’t love snuggling? That would not be normal! I do busy myself easily with toys and chews during quiet time, just so you understand I’m not overly demanding for attention. I love to go for walks and do great on a leash. I’d love to have you play ball with me. Endless fun for me and I get to run, another activity I adore! I’m crate trained, although I will admit I’m sometimes sad to be in there because, after all, I have my snuggling and play quotas to meet every day. It also reminds me of all the hours I stayed locked up at that horrible shelter and my last home.
So, see what I mean about perfection? I’ve been told digging and bolting do not fall under that category, but according to my Doxie-Doggie Rulebook, that still makes me perfect! Our number one rule is “I’m a Doxie, Gotta Luv Me!” I’m confident my new home will accept all these things and do what it takes to keep me safe. So I have to have a secure fence, supervision while outside, and no children. An open door is an opportunity to explore that great world out there, ya know? I’d hate to run to my heart’s content and not be able to find my way home to you.
I have a few little quirks I picked up thanks to my life’s experiences, so don’t count them against my perfect image. I’d love to have a playmate, but not a whole bunch of them because I’m still getting over having spent so much of my life by myself and starved for normal attentions. I’m getting better, though. I would LOVE to be adopted with my foster sister, Ceilly. Not a requirement, but it sure would make both of us happy!. BUT – if you adopt both of us, we would need to be your only two dogs! We are very good buddies and we take up for each other. I used to love being around children, but they were mean to me, so now I’m nervous and unsure around them. I’ve also been scolded badly in my past and this upsets me a lot. It’s OK to be sensitive, right? I’m a girl, after all. But, for the life of me I don’t understand why I was mistreated.
So, I’m a dynamic little package of beauty, brains and poise! What more could you want? *Big Grin*
